Most problems have a message on screen that says what to do; this section explains the common ones.
Publishing
Publish failed. Where is the reason?
When a publish does not finish, the top-bar Publish button shows a small ⓘ info icon. Hover it (or long-press on a phone) to read Publish failed: … with the reason. Fix what it says and press Publish again; contact support if it keeps failing.
It says "No changes to publish".
Webmarlin saw no change since the last publish. Publish anyway re-renders every page and refreshes caches, which takes about a minute.
It says "This site is already publishing".
Wait for the running publish to finish (the button shows Publishing…), then try again.
I changed a page but the live site did not change.
Save only updates the staging site. Press Publish (in the editor for one page, or in the top bar for the whole site). Use Preview staging site to check before publishing.
A page 404s after I renamed it.
Only published pages get an automatic redirect, and it goes live with the next publish. Check Pages → Links → Automatic redirects and publish.
Editing
"Unsaved changes" when I try to leave.
Your draft is kept, but not saved to the site. Choose Leave without saving only if you want to drop it; otherwise stay and press Save.
"Someone else saved this page while you were editing."
Another tab, a teammate or an AI saved first. In the Content integrity conflict dialog:
- Reload page: Drops your unsaved edits and loads the latest version
- Force save: Overwrites the other version with yours
- Keep editing: Keeps your edits in this tab; saving stays blocked until you choose
"This page's draft was updated outside the editor (AI or MCP)."
An assistant changed the draft while you had the page open. Load it shows their version; Keep my edits keeps yours (your next autosave replaces theirs).
"This page is write-protected."
Someone locked it. Press Unlock (or the lock icon in Pages) if you are allowed to edit it.
My text disappeared when I changed a colour.
Press Undo (Ctrl+Z). If the preview looks wrong, press Reload preview in the toolbar; your draft is not lost.
Visitors see a sponsored page
Every plan includes a number of visits a month (Starter: 300; see Settings → Plan & billing). A visit counts once per visitor per 6 hours, however many pages they open. When a site's visits for the month reach 2.5× its plan's quota, new visitors first see a short sponsored page from Webmarlin with a countdown (they can skip it after 5 seconds). After it they browse normally for 30 minutes, with a small sponsor bar at the top.
To remove it, upgrade the plan in Settings → Plan & billing; the counter resets at the start of each month. (Screenshot not available: the demo site has no traffic.)
Images and media
"No desc" badge on an image
Open Media, click the image, fill Description / alt text

Check the file type and your storage in Settings → Plan & billing
An image looks cropped
Select it and use Crop, or change the section's height handles

Domains and https
Custom domain shows an error
Check the CNAME points to sites.webmarlin.com. DNS changes can take a few hours to spread
"Not secure" warning
The certificate is issued automatically once DNS points to Webmarlin; wait a few minutes after DNS updates
Want to change the free address
Settings → Domains → Free address → Update
Bought the domain elsewhere
Keep it there; only add the CNAME record
Account and site
Can I delete a website?
Archive it instead (see Site settings). Nothing is lost and you can restore it.
I can't archive my site.
It still has a running paid plan. Cancel it in Settings → Plan & billing and archive once the paid period ends.
A teammate can't publish.
Their permissions lack Publish. Change them in Settings → Team.
The verification email never arrived.
Check spam, then press Resend verification email on the "Verify your email" screen.
Billing, credits and team
"You don't have enough AI credits for that."
Buy a pack in Account settings → AI Credits, or wait for the monthly free credits to reset
Confirm upgrade is greyed out
Add a card first with Add payment method in the dialog
Banner says Payment pending
Press Resume checkout and finish paying on Stripe's page
Banner says Payment past due
Press Update payment and add a working card
A plan I bought is not active yet
Stripe is still confirming; the plan switches on by itself. Check Settings → Plan & billing again in a minute
Domain search says "We couldn't sign in to the domain registrar"
The registrar is briefly unavailable; try again in a few minutes
A domain shows Needs attention
The payment and registration do not match yet; hover the badge for the reason. Our team is already on it, and retries the registration or refunds you
Link to website lists none of my sites
Only sites whose plan allows custom domains are listed; upgrade the site's plan
A collaborator cannot see a menu item
They lack that permission; Settings → Team → Edit permissions
An invitation link says it expired
Ask the owner to press Resend invite
"This invitation was sent to another address"
Sign out, then open the link again with the invited email
The shop switch is locked
The site's plan does not include the shop; upgrade in Plan & billing
